Dear ?Ir. O'Reilly:

As noted in our November 14, 1980, interim report on the subject deficiency, one remaining plate needed to be cleared before submitting a final report.

Since that time the one remaining plate has been cleared. 11owever, in clearing this plate subsequent information concerning six additional plates in this area was provided to the Engineer. The Engineer reanalyzed the six other plates wnich have subsequently been questioned. We are presently in the process of performing additional ultrasonic examinations on these six plates. Re-examination of one of the six plates has indicated that there is sufficient weldment present to meet design criteria. We are moving forward on re-examining the remaining five plates. Xt is now anticipated that the re-evaluation/corrective action on the additional plates will be completed by March 1, 1981, at which time the final 10CFR50.55(e) report will be submitted.
