& Light Company (CP&L) of:a potentially.reportable item concerning the use of insufficient preheat in the'ield.welding of.Seismic I hangers.

As indi-cated,duxing the August 19, 1980,. telephone conversation with, youx Mr. J. K. Rausch, CP&L has not completed'ts metallurgical evaluation of thismatter'o determine whether the problem is reportable'.per'he'rovisions of 3,0CPR50.55(e) and 10CPR Part 21. It is now anticipated'hat this reportability. evaluation will be completed by September',

1980,. at which time the'RC.will.be notified of our decision.
