Reference A) describes the circumstances surrounding the omission of rebar in the exterior wall of the Containment Building adjacent to the construction opening for the equipment hatch and includes proposed corrective actions.

Confirming discussions held with your staff in your office on April 17, 1980, in which Messrs.

Mi A. McDuffie, Sheldon Smith, P.

W. Howe, Allen Cutter, and A. M. Lucas of Carolina Power

& Light Company participated, the following proposed corrective actions are added to those enumerated in the referenced letter.

Add to Item III B 4 of Reference A):

In addition to the drawing review to identify similar problem areas on the exterior wall described in Item III.D of the referenced letter, Carolina Power Light Company will expand the review to include a drawing review of reinforcing steel in highly stressed and complex areas of Class I structures 1 ~
