Dear Mr. Denton:
Carolina Power R Light Company (CPdcL) hereby submits additional information concerning the Shearon Har ris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNPP) Control Room Design Review (CRDR) in response to the Safety Evaluation Report Open Item No. 10.
Supplement No.
1 to NUREG-1038, "Safety Evaluation Report Related to the Operation of Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNPP), Unit No. 1" (3une 1980) and an NRC letter dated on August 10, 1980, requested that additional information be submitted to the NRC staff concerning the SHNPP CRDR at least six months before fuel load. CPRL responded by letter dated 3anuary 1 1, 1985, briefly describing the work underway.
As reported in our 3anuary 11, 1985
- letter, the Company contracted an outside consultant to prepare the CRDR summary report.
The enclosed summary report contains the plans for the completion and reassessment of the control room design review and a description of the CRDR activities already completed.
This summary report also includes plans for a
Human Factors review of the Safety Parameter Display System (SPDS) as discussed at the March 5-7, 1985 SPDS Audit.
A final summary report, updating this submittal, will submitted for review six months prior to fuel load.
