50-400 AND 50-401 SHNPP UNIT 2 CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE
Dear Mr. Denton:
My October 14, 1982 letter informed you that the construction schedule for Units 1 and 2 had been changed, but the revised schedule for fuel load of Unit 2 had not been established.
We have now scheduled the Unit 2 fuel load for June, 1989 with commercial operation to begin in March, 1990.
In a related matter, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) letter dated December 28, 1982, "Notification of Licensing Schedule for Shearon Harris Unit 1" could be misinterpreted to mean that the licensing milestones set forth therein apply only to Unit 1.
On June 26, 1980, Carolina Power
& Light Company applied for a license to operate Units 1 and 2.
Therefore, the Draft Environmental Statement, Final Environmental Statement, Draft Safety Evaluation Report, Safety Evaluation Report, Supplement to Safety Evaluation Report, ACRS Meetings and Hearings milestone dates listed in your December 28, 1982 letter should be revised to apply to both Units.
Carolina Power
& Light Company requests, therefore, that the NRC's December 28, 1982 letter be revised to show clearly the applicability of these milestones to both Unit 1 and Unit 2.
