Subject:
Testing of Remote Shutdown Capability at Palo Verde, Units 2 and 3.
Dear Mr. Denton:
The referenced letter requested confirmation that Palo Verde Units 2 and 3
can be safely shutdown to a hot standby condition from outside the control room at a moderate power level (10-25%).
- Further, a schedule was requested for the performance of the test for Unit 2 during the power ascension test program, d"=future extended shutdown, or next refueling outage.
A schedule was also requested for the performance of the test for Unit 3 during the powex ascension testing period.
The Unit 2 remote shutdown panel test is scheduled to begin January 9,
1986 during the suxveillance testing outage.
The Unit 3 test will be performed during the power ascension testing program.
