SUBJECT:

Summary of Meeting to Discuss Reactor Trip Breakers A meeting was held on June 12, 1986 in licensee's office in Phoenix, Arizona with representatives of the licensee and the NRC staff.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the staff's request for information, dated April 2,

1986, concerning reports on life testing of reactor trip breakers.

Attendees for the meeting are listed in Enclosure I and the meeting is summarized below.

Back round In response to Item 4.2.3 of Generic Letter 83-28 concerning SALEM ATMS, the

'icensee stated that the life testing program for the Palo Verde trip breakers is address in certain specified reports.

In order to complete its review of this matter, the staff requested the licensee to provide copies of the reports by letter dated April 2, 1986.

At the request of the licensee, the staff agreed to meet with the licensee in Phoenix, Arizona on June 12, 1986 to review the contents of the subject documents.

Meetin Summar At the meeting, the staff reviewed the following documents relating to life qualification of the reactor trip breakers:

Reactor Trip Switchgear System Environmental gualification Program for Arizona Nuclear Power Project, Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station Units I, 2 and 3; Program No. 14273-ICE-3516, Rev. 03; (2)

Aging Analysis Report and Age Conditioning Procedure for Reactor Trip Switchgear for Use in Combustion Engineering System 80 Nuclear Power Generating Stations; (3)

Aging Analysis of Reactor Trip Switchgear System in a Non-Harsh Environ-ment; and (4)

Determination of Non-Metallic Materials Used in the Westinghouse Model DS-206 Low Voltage Power Circuit Breaker.

Based on that review, the staff found the information it needed to complete its review of the life qualification for the reactor trip breakers and that the information was appropriately addressed in the reports.

Therefore, the staff concluded that the specific reports requested by the April 2,

1986 letter need not be provided with the response to the staff's request.
