Request for Additional Information; PALO VERDE Unit No. 1; Preplanned Alternate Sample Program By letter dated May 22, 1985, you submitted a Preplanned Alternate Sample Program (PASP) in accordance with Section 6.16.1 of your facility's technical specifications.
We have completed our initial review of your application and have determined that we need the information presented in the enclosure to complete our evaluation.
Please provide the requested information with 30 days of the date of this letter.
Your proposal to modify the sample frequencies of technical specification 3.3.3.9 constitutes a change in technical specifications.
An application for amendment of your license'pursuant to 10.'FR 50.90 should be submitted if you desire this change.
The reporting and or recordkeeping requirements contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondants therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.

1 Preplanned Alternate Sample Program (PASP)
Docket No. 50-528 1.
Describe the upper concentration capability for the portable noble gas monitors and other alternate measures stated on Page 2 of the PASP.
2.
Describe your equipment and plans for limiting personnel exposure if grab samples must be taken under accident conditions as described on Page 4.
3.
Compare the sensitivity of alternate methods proposed for detecting a
steam generator tube rupture to that of the installed effluent monitor.
4.
Describe the surveillance tests that will be performed on a portable monitor prior to being placed in service.
5.
Describe the ability of a continuous air monitor installed at the 140 foot elevation to respond to a release from the auxiliary building through the fuel building essential ventilation system.
6.
Por monitors not alarming within the control room, describe the frequency at which the monitor will be checked.
7.
Describe your program to ensure that grab samples are promptly analyzed when required by action 37 of technical specification 3.3.3.9.
