In support of your request for extension of the completion dates, you indicated that you had proceeded in accordance with the completion dates originally established in the FPSE of February 14, 1979, including the granting of overtime for both design and construction efforts.

-You also noted the schedule changes mandated by the recent revisions to 10 CFR 50, which would require) that all modifications already approved by NRC should have been completed within one year of such approval.

Further, you quoted from the NRC staff's February 14, 1979 FPSE that (emphasis yours):

Based on our review, we conclude that because you were working to a previous schedule that had been approved by the NRC:staff and when you

learned, upon the publication of the proposed 10 CFR 50.48, that the schedule would have to be shortened, you expedited the design, manu-facturing and installation activities to the extent possible, ther e is good cause for extending the completion date for the Items listed in.

Group I above to June 30, 1981, and that the public health and safety is not adversely affected by such extension.
