LEST OF DEFiNZTZONS:

ACTIVE VALVES are required to cnange position either by opening, closing, or opening and re-closing to either safely shut down the reactor or mitigate the consequences of an accident.

2)

PASSlVE VALVES are not required to change position to esther safely shut down the reactor or mitigate the consequences of an accident.

3)

EZERCZSXNG - Exercising is the demonstration, based on direct or indirect visual or other position indication, that the valve exhibits the required change of disk position to fulfill its function.

a)

FULL STROKE - is the valve stem or disc movement to the position required (to open or to close) to fulfillits unction.

b)

Normall o en valve verification of seaMng upon cessation or reversal of flow.

c)

Valves that are not tested during a specific Cold Shutdown, due to plant startup, will be identified to assure their testing in the event of untimely Cold Shutdowns within the time periods (i.e.,

3 months or 9 months, as applicable).

However, in the event that Cold Shutdowns extend beyond these time periods, all'he valves shall be re-scheduled for testing commencing with those that were not tested during the prev'ous Cold Shutdown period.

Zn any event, plant startup shall not be delayed to complete valve testing.
