Docket No. 50-335 Pum 5 Valve Test Pro ram In a May 24, 1977 letter from the Division of Operating Reactors, Florida Power 8 Light Company (FPL) was informed that, during the interim period between July 1, 1977 and the time that the NRC completes its review of the proposed St.
Lucie Unit 1
pump and valve test program, St. Lucie should proceed to implement the proposed program as required by 10 CFR 50.55a(g).
By our interpretation, this implies that subsequent updated versions of'he pump and valve program should be implemented on an interim basis until the matter is formally resolved by NRC issuance of an approved program.
Since May of 1977, the program has been revised to reflect agreements made between FPL representatives and NRC Staff personnel during a series of meetings in May of 1978.
The most recent proposed program was submitted to the NRC on September 8, 1978 (L-78-295).
The purpose of this letter is to inform you that, in keeping with our inter-pretation of the NRC's May 24, 1977 letter, we are proceeding to implement the September, 1978 pump and valve program.
We will continue to implement subsequent programs as they are developed or until the final approved program is issued by the NRC. If, for certain components, the requirements of our current Technical Specifications are more restrictive than the requirements of the most recent proposed
- program, we will comply with the Technical Specifications.
If the requirements of the proposed program are more restrictive for some components, we will comply with the proposed program.
