SAFETY EVALUATION FOR ITEM 2.2 (PART I) OF GENERIC LETTER 83~28; EQUIPMENT CLASSIFICATION PROGRAM FOR ALL SAFETY-RELATED COMPONENTS, FOR THE DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS 2 AND 3, AND THE QUAD CITIES NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS) AND 2 (TAC NOS. 53667,. 53668, 53707 AND 53708)
The staff has completed its review of Item 2.2.1 of Generic Letter 83-28 (Salem ATWS) related to the equipment classification program for all safety-related components for Dresden and Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station. contains our Safety Evaluation which is based on our contractor's (EG&G - Idaho) assessment of the submittals by Commonwealth Edison. Technical Evaluation Reports EG&G-NTA-7202 for Dresden and EG&G-NTA-7299 for Quad Cities are provided as Enclosures 2 and 3 respectively.
Based on our evaluation, we find Commonwealth Edison's program for classifying safety-related.equipment at the Dresden and Quad Cities stations to be acceptable.
