50-237/249 LS05-84-04-059 Mr. Dennis L. Farrar Director of Nuclear Licensing Commonwealth Edison Company Post Office Box 767 Chicago, Illinois 60690.

Dear Mr. Farrar:

SUBJECT:

REQUESTS FOR RELIEF FROM JNSERVICE INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS Re:

Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Unit Nos. 2 and 3 By letter dated December 10, 1982, Commonwealth Edison submitted its inservice inspection program revisions and additional information related to

.request for relief from certain Code requirements determined to be impractical to perform on the Dresden Station Unit Nos. 2 and 3 during the inspection interval March 1, 1982 to March 1, 1992.

The aforementioned material was reviewed by our contractor, Battelle, Pacific Northwest Laboratories which prepared the attached Technical Evaluation Report

{TER) evaluating the requests for relief. The staff examined the conclusions presented in the TER and prepared the enclosed Safety Evaluation which has -

granted relief from the examinaMon requirements which we.have determined to be impractical to perform and,* by granting relief, would not compromise the safety of the facilities. This concludes our evaluation of your December 10, 1982 submittal.
