COMPLETION OF LICENSING ACTION FOR GENERIC LETTER 97 DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS 2 AND 3 (TAC NOS. M99985 AND M99986)
Dear Mr. Kingsley:
On October 7, 1997, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Generic Letter (GL) 97-04, "Assurance of Net Positive Suction Head for Emergency Core Cooling and Containment Heat Removal Pumps," to all holders of operating licenses or construction permits. The NRC issued GL 97-04 to confirm the adequacy of the net positive suction head (NPSH) available for emergency core cooling (including core spray and decay heat removal) and containment heat removal pumps under all design-basis accident scenarios.
In response to GL 97-04, Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd) provided a letter dated January 5, 1998, for Dresden, Units 2 and 3. In response to a request for additional information dated May 22, 1998, ComEd submitted a letter on June 19, 1998. These submittals provided the information requested by GL 97-04. The staff has reviewed your response and has concluded that all requested information has been provided; therefore, we consider TAC Nos. M99985 and M99986 for Dresden, Units 2 and 3, closed.
