This refers to your letter dated August 20,
1990, in response
to our letter
dated
May 31,
1990.
Your letter certified that Niagara
Mohawk has completed all short-term correc-
tive actions for the Nine Mile Point Unit 2 Operator Requalification
program
and that all program deficiencies,
including those identified by the
NRC,
have
been
addressed.
We have reviewed your corrective actions
and the documentation
you provided to support your certification and have
found them satisfactory.
Further,
our requalification program evaluation
conducted
during the week of
April 30,
1990,
and documented
in our examination report,
50-410/90-16
(OL)
indicates that the program
has
met all criteria for a satisfactory classifi-
cation as set forth in Examiner Standard
Revision 5.
During a tele-
phone conservation
with Mr. S. Pullani of my staff on November 7, 1990,
Mr.
R. Seifried of your staff also confirmed that
a long term action regarding
a review of the examination
question
bank, which remained
unresolved at the end
of the April 30,
1990 program evaluation,
was completed prior to October 31,
1990,
in accordance
with your commitment
as documented
in Sections
7.2 and 7. 10
of the examination report.
Accordingly, the program is considered
returned to
a satisfactory
status.
Thank you for informing us of the corrective
and preventive actions
documented
in your letter.
These actions will be further examined during
a future inspec-
tion/examination of your operator requalification program.
