The
inspec tors
have
identified
two violations at
Unit
1.
One
involves
the
failure to environmentally qualify
a three wire V-type splice
and
the
second
involves
the failure to properly control
components
and
systems.
Both viola-
tions
have
been
categor'zed
as Severity
Level
IV according
to
Appendix
C (Enforcement Policy).
This letter
transmits
the
results
of the
routine
inspection
conducted
by
Messrs.
W. Cook,
R. Laura,
R.
Temps
and
others
of
this
office
on
December
14,
1989 through January
31,
1990,
at
Nine Mile Point Units
1
and
2,
Scriba,
New
York.
A
summary
of
the
findings
was
presented
to
Messrs.
R. Abbott,
K. Dahlberg
and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the
The events
surrounding
the
second violation represent
shortcomings
not only in
obtaining
Nuclear
Generation
goals
of improved
standards
of performance,
but
also
in self
assessment.
