1 MINUTES OF MARCH 6, 1979 MEETING ON DRAFT FIRE PROTECTION SER FOR NINE MILE POINT UNIT NO.
1 On March 6, 1979, the NRC staff met in Syracuse, New York with representatives of Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation in order to discuss the draft Fire Protection Safety Evaluation Report for Nine Mile Point Unit No. 1.
The Office of Inspection and Enforcement is coordinating the effort for Nine Mile.
Enclosure 1 delineates attendance at the meeting.
The draft Fire Protection Safety Evaluation Report (Enclosure 2) reflected the staff observations made dur ing the October site visit as well as information requested subsequent to this visit.
By letters dated January 2 and January 31, 1979, Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation had formally provided most of the information requested by the staff.
During the meeting the draft SER was reviewed with the licensee in
'rder to close out as many as possible of the remaining open items as well as to correct any errors or misunderstandings.
Since the SER is scheduled for issuance March 30, 1979, Niagara Mohawk was requested to provide commitments as soon as possible.
For those items for which a commitment would not be forthcoming by the end of March, a,"
formal response was requested within 90 'days of SER issuance.
ISE indicated.that they would provide the necessary personnel to resolve all open issues.
