ENCLOSURE 2 NOTICE OF DEVIATION Duke Power Company Docket No. 50-269 Oconee Nuclear Station License No. DPR-38 The following deviation was identified during a Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) inspection conducted June 10 - July 7, 1986.
Section 3.7.4.1 of the Oconee Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) provides the location and description of seismic instrumentation installed at the site. The FSAR describes six plant locations, all in Unit 1, where peak recording accelerometers are to be installed.
Contrary to the above, there is only one location at the Oconee site where a peak recording accelerometer is currently installed or operable.
Accel erometers previously located in the other five locations are inoperable.
Some or all or these instruments may have been removed subsequent to the licensee recognizing their state of deterioration in 1979.
Please provide in writing within 30 days of the date of this Notice a description of corrective actions regarding this deviation, actions taken to avoid further deviations, and the dates when these actions were or will be completed.
