Dear Mr.
Euckman:OFA By yo'ur.etter dated May 4, 1994, you requested approval for use byDuke Power Company (DPC) of the TACO-3 computer code and the Fuel Rod Gas-Pressure Criterion (FRGPC5, both of which are NRC-approved Babcock and Wilcox methodologies. The evaluation for approval of DPC use of these methodologies was to be performed by an audit of DPC'S application of these methods.
This audit was performed at your offices from March 7 through March 10, 1995.
Our audit report is enclosed. Based on this audit, we conclude that DPC has the technical capability to perform TACO-3 analyses for reload licensing applications, and therefore, the use of TACO-3 by DPC for the Catawba, McGuire, and Oconee Nuclear Stations is acceptable.
