SUMMARY

OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL HELD ON MAY 10, 2016, BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND ENTERGY NUCLEAR OPERATIONS, INC. CONCERNING THE INDIAN POINT NUCLEAR GENERATING UNIT NOS. 2 AND 3 LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (CAC NOS. MD5407 AND MD5408)

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and representatives of Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. (Entergy), held a telephone conference call on May 10, 2016, to discuss the NRC staffs review of the Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit Nos. 2 and 3 license renewal application. Specifically, the NRC staff expressed concern with apparent discrepancies identified during the review of Entergy responses to requests for additional information related to LR-ISG-2012-02, Aging Management of Internal Surfaces, Fire Water Systems, Atmospheric Storage Tanks, and Corrosion Under Insulation. In response, Entergy stated that they would give broader consideration of the degradation identified in operating experience that could be attributed to the effects of aging. In addition, Entergy stated that the issue of how operating experience is considered as a part of recurring internal corrosion has been entered into the corrective action program for tracking. The NRC staff and Entergy agreed to have a follow-up phone call in approximately 3 months to discuss the status of any potential corrective actions.
