Dear Mr. Parker:

BS

-RDigs We have reviewed your responses by letters dated June 18 and July 27,1979',

to our.May 25,-1979 letter on fe ater ppe cracks as related to the Oconee Nuclear Station, Units' Nos. 1, 2 and 3. Based on tiis review, we have concluded that it is highly unfikely that your facility wil.exper4!ence feedwater pipe cracks similar to.those observed at other acilities.

There fore, the augmented inspections as required under I& Bulletin 79-13 and 79-13(2) may be discontinued.

However, the elimination of the augmented inspection program does not relieve you of the inspections rgquired under the ASME Code Section XI for Class 2c6mponents for the emergency feedwater system.

Enclosed is our Safety Evaluation Report concerning this matter.

Sincerely, Origin Reid
