INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-269/89-29, 50-270/89-29, AND 50-287/89-29
This refers to the Nuclear Reculatory Commission (NRC)
inspection conducted by
E. D. Testa on September 25-28,
1989.
The inspection included a review of
activities authorized for the Oconee facility.
At the conclusion of the
inspection, the findings were discussed with those members of your staff
identified in the enclosed inspection report.
Areas examined durina the inspection are identified in the report.
Within
these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures
and representative records,
interviews with personnel,
and obseryation of
activities in
progress.
Within the scope of the inspection,
no violations or deviations were
identified.
Your attention is directed to the exercise weaknesses identified in
Paragraphs 3, 6, and 7 of the enclosed inspection report.
Your attention is
also directed to the commitments discussed in Paragraphs 3, 6, and 7.
In
particular, it is our understanding that it is the plant manager's intention to
take prompt corrective action and demonstrate the effectiveness of these
corrective actions during a drill in February of 1990. If your understanding
of the commitment differs from that presented please let us know.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," Part 2,
Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and its enclosure
will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
The responses directed by this letter and its enclosure are not subject to the
clearance procedures of the Office of Management and Budget as required by the
Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, Pub. L. No.96-511.
