COMPLETION OF LICENSING ACTION FOR GENERIC LETTER 97-04, "ASSURANCE OF SUFFICIENT NET POSITIVE SUCTION HEAD FOR EMERGENCY CORE COOLING AND CONTAINMENT HEAT REMOVAL PUMPS," H.B. ROBINSON STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNIT 2 (TAC NO. MA0037)
Dear Mr. Young:
On October 7, 1997, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Generic Letter (GL) 97-04, "Assurance of Net Positive Suction Head for Emergency Core Cooling and Containment Heat Removal Pumps," to all holders of operating licenses or construction permits.
The NRC issued GL 97-04 to confirm the adequacy of the net positive suction head (NPSH) available for emergency core cooling (including core spray and decay heat removal).and containment heat removal pumps under all design-basis accident scenarios.
In response to GL 97-04, you provided letters dated November 6, 1997, and January 6, 1998, for H.B. Robinson Steam Electric Plant, Unit 2. In response to a request for additional information dated May 15, 1998, you submitted a letter on June 11, 1998. These submittals provided the information requested by GL 97-04. The staff has reviewed your response and has concluded that all requested information has been provided; therefore, we consider GL 97 04 closed for H.B. Robinson.
