OCONEE NUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1, 2, AND 3 - ASSESSMENT OF SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION RELATED TO THE FLOOD HAZARD REEVALUATION REPORT
Dear Mr. Allerton:
By letter dated May 15, 2014 (Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML14139A174), Duke Energy submitted additional documentation developed by an independent review party in support of the March 12, 2013 Oconee Nuclear Station (ONS) Flood Hazard Reevaluation Report (ADAMS Accession No. ML13079A227). The May 15, 2014 submittal includes the report titled Validation of HRR Breach Hydrograph for Jocassee Dam which contains sensitive security information that must be withheld from public disclosure pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations 2.390(d). Based on discussions between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the NRC staff is requesting that FERC review the enclosed report and perform an acceptability assessment of the Jocassee breach analysis. In addition, to support your review of this report, in the near future we will be forwarding you the results of our contractors review of the Xu/Zhang methodology referenced in this report.
