RE: SECOND DRAFT-RAI to FENOC PROPOSED REVISION TO REACTOR VESSEL SURVEILLANCE CAPSULE WITHDRAWAL SCHEDULES Mr. Lashley, After our discussion today, the NRC staff determined that they no longer need to ask RAI 2 that I sent you on Monday, February 24, concerning the review of the reactor vessel surveillance capsule withdrawal schedule.

As such, we will not be formally sending you the RAI.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Subject:

SECOND DRAFT-RAI to FENOC PROPOSED REVISION TO REACTOR VESSEL SURVEILLANCE CAPSULE WITHDRAWAL SCHEDULES Mr. Lashley, By letter dated May 28, 2013 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML13151A058), as supplemented by letter dated December 13, 2013 (ADAMS Accession No. ML13350A581), First Energy Nuclear Operating Company submitted a request to revise the reactor vessel surveillance capsule withdrawal schedules for the Beaver Valley Power Station, Units 1 and 2.

The NRC staff has reviewed the information submitted by the licensee, and based on this review, determined additional information is required to complete the assessment of the submitted information. Please find attached a Draft Request For Additional Information. It is being sent to you to ensure that the question is understandable, the regulatory basis for the question is clear, and to determine if the information was previously docketed. Please respond to me by Friday, February 28, 2013, and notify me if you desire to hold a teleconference to discuss the question. The NRC staff will request a response to the RAIs within 30 days of the formal NRC RAI transmittal letter.

Thank you, 1
