BRAIDWOOD STATION KANKAKEE RIVER FISH MONITORING PROGRAM, 1991-2013 Tables Requested by the NRC to Describe the Number of Fish Caught by Sampling Gear and Species at Each Monitoring Location Prepared for EXELON NUCLEAR January 2014 HDR Engineering, Inc.Environmental Science & Engineering Consultants 10207 Lucas Road Woodstock, Illinois 60098

1. INTRODUCTION The information included in the tables contained in this report is limited to 23 years of sampling (1991 -2013) in the Kankakee River near the Braidwood Station river screen house and discharge structure.

The tables were requested by the NRC to present data that would describe the number of fish caught by sampling gear and species at each of the 11 monitoring locations (10 locations in the Kankakee River and one location in Horse Creek) located in the vicinity of Braidwood Station.Data collected prior to 1991 are not included in this collection of tables because it was either incomplete or not available to HDR Engineering, Inc. at the time of the NRC's request. In addition, sampling from 1977 to 1990 was conducted by the Illinois Natural History Survey, and the data are archived in formats (magnetic tape) that are incompatible with currently available equipment, making it inaccessible within reasonable cost and schedule.

Furthermore, electrofishing sampling efforts prior to 1991 (20.0 total hours of sampling effort per year) were not consistent with efforts conducted since 1991 (9.0 total hours of sampling effort per year). For that reason, comparisons and interpretation of the pre- and post-1991 data sets would be difficult.

Figure 1-1 shows a map of the fish sampling locations at which the sampling data contained in this report were collected.
