ACCEPTABILITY OF EMERGENCY PLAN CHANGES We have completed our review of the most recent revision to your Emergency Plan for the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station that was distributed under a cover letter dated June 11, 1987, and received in the NRC Region V office on July 6, 1987. The review included an examination of your October 14, 1987, correspondence that responded to our questions concerning the revised plan posed during a July 30, 1987 telephone conversation with Mr. Phil Dooley of your staff. Additional clarification of your October 14 letter was received during my October 28, 1987 telephone discussion with Messrs. Ken Bellis and Dave Peacor of your staff.
During the October 28, 1987, telephone discussion, your staff offered to make the following additional changes to the revised emergency plan:
- 1.
The first complete sentence at the top of page 8-3 (lines 1, 2 and 3) will be deleted.
- 2.
Restore the previous wording for Radiological Monitoring Drill and Health Physics Drills to the paragraphs in the plan titled Radiological Monitoring Practice and Health Physics Practice, located on pages 8-6 and 8-7.
Based on your implementing the changes described in your October 14, 1987 letter and those identified above that were discussed during the October 28, 1987 telephone conversation, the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Emergency Plan, as changed, continues to meet the standards in 10 CFR 50.47(b) and the requirements of 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix E.
