POTENTIAL SAFETY RELATED PUMP LOSS (Bulletin 88-04) SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNIT NO. 1 (TAC NO. 69967)

In reviewing your responses dated July 26, 1988, January 5 and December 15, 1989, to NRC Bulletin 88-04, "Potential Safety-Related Pump Loss," we have determined that he following additional information is required to complete our review:

1. The bulletin requested that you verify the adequacy of miniflow recirculation with the pump suppliers (NRC Action 3).

This verification was not addressed in your response. Please complete this action and provide your response.

2. In your letter dated December 15, 1989, you stated that a special test of the feedwater pumps was performed to verify adequacy of safety injection miniflow. Please provide us with the details of this test, including test data and calculations, which support your conclusions.

In order to maintain our review schedule, your response is requested within 30 days of your receipt of this letter.

The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under Pub. L.96-511.

Please contact us if you should have any questions regarding this request.
