SUPPLEMENTAL SAFETY EVALUATION FOR SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNIT 1, SYSTEMATIC EVALUATION PROGRAM TOPIC, III-3.A (TAC NOS. 62998 AND 62999)
By letters dated August 22, 1986, and September 14, 1988, you provided responses to the NRC staff's questions regarding the Systematic Evaluation Program (SEP), Topic III-3A, "Effects of High Water Level on Structures."
The staff has reviewed these responses regarding (1) the capacity of plant structures to withstand short-term hydrostatic load from groundwater table at plant grade, SEP Section 4.6.1, and (2) the rooftop ponding depth and modified drainage capacities in the ventilation equipment building and the fuel storage building, SEP Section 4.6.2, and has concluded that the methodology and criteria used to resolve these two issues are acceptable.
This action completes the evaluations associated with TAC Nos. 62998 and 62999, and these TAC Nos. are now considered closed.
