RCS SPECIFIC ACTIVITY REPORT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION UNIT NOS. 1, 2 AND 3, DOCKET NOS. 50-206, 50-361 AND 50-362 On August 22, 1988 at 0030, with Unit 2 in Mode 3, following a reactor shutdown required by plant Technical Specifications, analysis of a RCS sample indicated RCS specific activity exceeded 1.0 microcurie/gram Dose Equivalent (DE) 1-131 due to iodine spiking. RCS specific activity was reduced to less than 1.0 microcurie/gram DE I-131 by purification flow by 1630 the same day.
Therefore, the time duration when the specific activity of the primary coolant exceeded the radioiodine limit was approximately 16 hours1.851852e-4 days
0.00444 hours
2.645503e-5 weeks
6.088e-6 months
.
The additional information required by Technical Specification 6.9.1.5 is presented below and in Figure 1.
