NRC APPROVAL OF REVISED FEEDWATER LINE BREAK ANALYSIS (TAC NO. 65229)
Re:
San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1 (SONGS-1)
The NRC staff has completed its review of the revised SONGS-1 feedline break analysis as described in your submittals dated April 30, May 19, and July 2,1987. We have concluded that the revised analysis is acceptable since it properly accounts for the modeling error discovered in your November 12, 1986 submittal.
Because of single-failure concerns with the steam flow/feed flow mismatch reactor trip, both your November 12, 1986 analysis and the revised analysis approved today were performed without reliance upon the mismatch trip signal.
However, your May 19, 1987 submittal states that modifications to correct the single-failure concerns will be completed during the Cycle 10 refueling outage. We request that you inform the Commission, in writing, of any significant changes to this estimated completion schedule and when the action has actually been completed.
