REACTIVITY ANOMALIES (NRC ACCESSION #8112160325)
San Onofre Unit No. 1 The Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No. 64 to Provisional Operating License No. DPR-13 for the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1. The amendment consists of changes to the Technical Specifications in response to your request dated December 8, 1981 (Proposed Change Nos.
106 and 107; Amendment Application No. 101).
The amendment revises the Appendix A Technical Specifications and Bases to reflect: (1) revised normally required time intervals for entering Iarious subcritical operational modes when a limiting condition for operation and/or the associated action statement cannot be satisfied and (2) revised reactivity criteria requiring a prompt report to the NRC. Both of these changes were made to provide consistency with Standard Technical Specifications. These Technical Sepcifications are to be implemented within 30 days.
Copies of our related Safety Evaluation and the Notice of Issuance are also enclosed.
