Docket No. 50-206 Process Control Program San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 The Radiological Effluent Technical Specifications which are effective as of January 1, 1985 will require the implementation of an NRC approved Process Control Program (PCP) for Unit 1. The purpose of this letter is to submit the Station procedure which will be used to implement the PCP for Unit 1. Station Health Physics Procedure S01-VII-8.5.1, "Process Control Program for San Onofre Unit 1," is enclosed for your timely review and approval. The program is similar to the PCP for Units 2 and 3 which was granted interim approval by the NRC staff on April 24, 1984.
Please note that the following documents are also applicable to Unit 1 and were previously reviewed and approved by the NRC staff for Units 2 and 3:

The program description, submitted by letter dated March 2, 1984, that is used at San Onofre Units 1, 2 and 3 to implement the requirements of 10 CFR 20.311 for waste classification and waste form. The program description for implementing 10 CFR 20.311, references Chem-Nuclear's licensing topical report, "CNSI-WF-C-01-NP, Title 10 CFR 61, Waste Form Certification Cement," dated November 30, 1983, to demonstrate compliance with stability requirements for the waste forms in 10 CFR 61.
The program also references Chem-Nuclear's licensing topical report, "CNSI Dewatering Control Process Topical Report, CNSI-DW-11118-01-P, dated December 23, 1983, for dewatering Class A spent resin to demonstrate compliance with the free liquid requirements in 10 CFR 61.
