Depressurization and Decay Heat Removal fur San Onofre 2 a In the enclosed letter, we requested that Combustion Engineering (CE) provide additional information about rapid depressurization and decay heat removal capabilities for CESSAR plant.
Since the San Onofre 2 and 3 design is similar, to CESAk in that it is a plant without power operated relief valves, we request that you provde a similar evaluation of the rapid depressurization and decay heat removal capabilities of the Sai Onofre and 3 design and, to the extent applicable, incorporate responses to the enclosed questions.
Further, we request that within seven days of your receipt of their letter you provide a schedule for the submittal of this evaluation.
if your response to all of the enclosed questions will not be provided at least one month prior to the anticipated date for operation of San Onofre 2 at power levels above 5%, we request that you, provide a justification for safe operation.of the plant at full power in the interim.
