Same as above This letter provides Revision 6 to the San Onofre Unit 2 and 3 Reracking License Amendment Requests (LAR). Revision 6 includes responses to five NRC questions received during a December 20, 1989 telephone call on the spent fuel pool rack row deletion reanalysis, as well as corrections to several heavy load weights and the addition of four heavy load lifts.

The initial request for this License Amendment was submitted on March 10, 1989. Revision 5, submitted by the above reference, was a stand alone document which incorporated the original LAR, as well as Revisions 1 through 4.

This submittal (Revision 6) includes the following:

1. Enclosure 1: Summary of Revision 6 changes.

2. Enclosure 2: Changes (insert pages) to the Revision 5 Reracking Licensing Report including:

a) Responses to five NRC questions on the rack row deletion analysis.

b) Corrections to several heavy load weights identified during a review of the latest vendor drawings of the single failure proof Temporary Gantry Crane (TGC). The weight increases, which were identified after submittal of Rev. 5 to the Reracking LAR, are the result of finalizing the design of the TGC.

Document Control Desk February 16, 1990 All load drop calculations affected by the above weight changes have been recalculated and all stresses are within allowables.

c) Four additional potential heavy load lifts over concrete have been evaluated and included in the report to increase flexibility in performance of reracking activities. Load drop calculations have been performed for these potential lifts, and all stresses are within allowables.

With the submittal of the enclosed information, SCE has responded to all NRC requests for information on the Reracking LAR. NRC approval of the Reracking LAR is requested by April 1, 1990 in order for SCE to maintain the current reracking construction schedule and ensure that all reracking activities are completed during Cycle 5 operation for each Unit.
