Permanent Removal of Fuel from the Reactor Vessel, San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 3
Dear Sir or Madam:
Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.82(a)(1 )(i), Southern California Edison (SCE) has certified that it has permanently ceased power operation of San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) Unit 2 and 3 (Reference 1). Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.82(a)(1 )(ii), Southern California Edison (SCE) hereby certifies that the fuel has been permanently removed from the Unit 2 reactor on July 18, 2013.
SCE understands that, pursuant to 10 CFR 50.82(a)(2), with these certifications SONGS Unit 2 license no longer authorizes operation of the reactor or emplacement or retention of fuel in the reactor vessel.
