By letter dated March 25, 2011 (Reference a), as supplemented, Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, LLC (NMPNS) requested NRC approval of an alternative weld repair strategy for Nine Mile Point Unit 1 (NMP 1) Control Rod Drive (CRD) housing penetrations.

As requested in the NRC letter dated March 4, 2013 (Reference b), NMPNS has reviewed the draft Safety Evaluation (SE) prepared by the NRC staff to support the proposed alternative weld repair strategy, and has determined that the draft SE, as written, does not contain any information that should be identified as proprietary. NMPNS also does not have any comments on the technical content of the draft SE.
