File From:

Geoff Wertz

Subject:

Summary of Teleconference Call with TAMU TRIGA to the Renewed License On January 10, 2013, the NRC License Renewal (LR) Project Manager (PM) Geoff Wertz, Linh Tran, Duane Hardesty, and Pat Boyle, discussed with the TAMU TRIGA Reactor Facility Director, Dr. Reece, and members of the TAMU staff, the following items:

License Changes Items resolved:

1. Current license conditions II.B.(2), II.B.(3), II.B.(6), and II.B.(7) deleted - no longer needed.
2. Current license condition II.C, removal of Section 35.92 of 10 CFR Part 35, since 10CFR20.2001(a) (2) allows decay in storage provision.

Open items:

1. Dr. Reese wants to continue to separate U-235 to fabricate fission chambers.

This is not specifically prohibited by their current license, but not allowed in RTR licenses. This will probably have to be pursued as a license amendment since no justification in SAR exists currently for evaluation.

2. Dr. Reese to provide a numerical value in grams for the SNM possession limit.
3. Dr. Reese to provide a serial number for the sealed antimony-beryllium neutron startup source.
