Dear Dr. Goodwin:

By letter dated May 3, 2004, as supplemented by letters dated November 24, 2009; January 19, August 6, August 18, September 3, September 8, November 26, December 7, and December 14, 2010; January 24, February 24, and July 15, 2011; December 17, 2012; March 15, September 16, and December 19, 2013; January 9, February 24, April 28, and June 30, 2014; August 7, August 11, and September 3, 2015; and January 20, February 26, and March 1, 2016, the Rhode Island Atomic Energy Commission submitted an application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for renewal of Facility License No. R-95 for the Rhode Island Nuclear Science Center Reactor.

Based on review of the application, the NRC staff has determined that the Rhode Island Atomic Energy Commission has submitted sufficient information such that the application is acceptable for docketing in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 50.33 and Section 50.34. However, this determination does not preclude requests for additional information as the review proceeds. The Notice of Acceptability for Docketing and Opportunity for Hearing has been forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Mr. Patrick Boyle at 301-415-3936 or via email at Patrick.Boyle@nrc.gov.

Sincerely,

/RA/
