SUBJECT:
CONFIRMATION OF REQUESTED INITIAL OPERATOR LICENSE EXAMINATIONS FOR WATTS BAR NUCLEAR PLANT
Dear Mr. Shea:
In a letter dated July 8, 2011, your staff responded to Regulatory Issue Summary 2011-04 and requested we schedule initial license operator examinations for the Watts Bar Nuclear Plant.
Based on your letter and following discussions with your staff, we have scheduled the requested examinations as follows:
2012 2013 Plant / Station Date Applicants Date Applicants Watts Bar 11/26* 16 6/3 16
- Changed from your original requested date On-site validation of the examinations is typically scheduled to occur approximately three weeks before each examination. If you have a need to change the dates of your scheduled exam(s) from that (those) listed above, please inform us in writing of your request and the reason for the change. Due to the large number of examinations scheduled to be administered at Region II sites, requests to change examination dates will be considered on a case-by-case basis. We will confirm any change in examination schedule with a follow-up letter.
We understand that your staff will develop the proposed examinations. For examinations that have greater than nine applicants, each examination is scheduled for a minimum of two weeks.
If the number of applicants is reduced to less than ten (10) for any examination, please inform us as this will impact the examination schedule.
TVA 2 A supplementary letter will be sent to each stations training department director approximately 120 days prior to the initial examination. The letter will provide the director with the chief examiner=s name, an outline of examination security expectations, a list of the materials required by the NRC to conduct the examination, and it will reconfirm the examination dates. If you have any questions concerning this information, please contact Mr. Malcolm Widmann, Chief, Operations Branch I, at 404-997-4550 or Mr. Mark Franke, Chief, Operations Branch II at 404-997-4436.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS).
