RE: Salem-Hope Creek - dSEIS examples for multi-unit sites Steven:

I have a couple of questions for you about information that may or may not need to be added to the Salem/Hope Creek SEIS.

1 -There was some discussion at the audit about C-14 evaluation initiatives (RETS -REMP 2010 ?). Do we need to discuss anything about C-14?

2 - What is your opinion on Include the following to be added to Section 4.8:

Cobalt-60 Production PSEG Nuclear will partner with GE Hitachi to pilot the production of the radioactive isotope cobalt-60 (Co-60) at HCGS.

Co-60, used in medical applications and food sterilization, will also be produced by GE Hitachi and Exelon in a pilot project at Exelon's Clinton plant approved by NRC in January. N'RC published its proposed no significant hazards

.determination for a license amendment request, submitted by PSEG Nuclear in December 2009, for the test irradiation of up to 12 "isotope test assemblies" at HCGS (Fed Reg Ref. - March 2, 2010). As part of the hazard analysis, the NRC staff will evaluated the potential effects of the modified fuel assemblies on plant operations and accident scenarios. If the amendment is granted, the assemblies would be inserted in HCGS's core during the reactor's fall 2010 refueling outage. The elements would need to be irradiated for several cycles and would not be ready for removal for about four years.

I would like to send you another draft version of 4.8 after you provide input on these 2 issues.

Salem-Hope Creek - dSEIS examples for multi-unit sites Kevin, Charles asked that I sent you an example of how I reported the doses for a multi-unit site in chapter 4. I have attached the dSEIS I did for the 3 Palo Verde units Also, for Indian Point, in chapter 2, I had to write separate radioactive waste processing system descriptions for each unit since there were different and not shared systems.

Here is my Palo Verde radiological evaluation info. I assume you have the IP dSEIS.

If you have any questions or want to bounce an idea off me, feel free.
