1. Was closed by July 7, 2011, memo Completion of Review of Licensee Responses to Generic Letter 2008-01, Managing Gas Accumulation In Emergency Core Cooling, Decay Heat Removal, and Containment Spray Systems (ADAMS Accession No. ML11165A165)
2. Action items from closure memo:
  • Continue to work with industry through NEI to obtain a comprehensive gas management document based on the continued review and development of topical report NEI 09-10.
  • Prepare a safety evaluation when it receives an acceptable NEI gas management document.
  • Prepare a regulatory issue summary that announces the endorsement of the acceptable NEI gas management document.
  • Issue IN mentioned above on calculation methodologies for addressing gas and other voids in nuclear power plant piping.

ENCLOSURE

  • Continue to work with industry through NEI to develop acceptable methodologies for predicting gas movement phenomena.
  • Continue to work with the TSTF to enhance the TSs and establish a program for managing gas accumulation.
