OFFICE OF SECRETARY RULEMAKINGS AND ADJUDICATIONS STAFF UNITED STATES OF AMERICA NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION BEFORE THE ATOMIC SAFETY AND LICENSING BOARD In the Matter of Docket # 50-293-LR Entergy Corporation Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station License Renewal Application January 1,2011 PILGRIM WATCH REPLY TO ENTERGY'S REQUEST TO CHANGE THE HEARING DATE Entergy requested a change in the schedule for the hearing and potential oral argument on new pending contentions from March 2 and 3 to March 9 and 10.

Entergy made note that I am scheduled to be in Cuba from March 12 to March 20 and I therefore request that the time from March 11 to March 20 be considered a "dead time" and not be accouted for in the time allowed for any pleadings that are due subsequent to the hearing and potential oral argument. The reasons for this request are that I am taking part in a cultural exchange program and the time in Cuba is tightly scheduled with lectures and events; also I am told not to expect any telephone or wireless

,d rd capability. Alternatively if the hearing were March 2 and 3, 1 would then have had a full week here to work, as required.

I understand Entergy's reasons for changing the hearing date; and, at the same time, I would appreciate your consideration of my request to accommodate the dates of any subsequent pleadings as described in the foregoing.
