- Linda, By letter dated January 14, 2010, (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML100210200), Southern California Edison (SCE or the licensee) submitted a license amendment request (LAR) for the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 2 and 3. The proposed amendment would revise the applicability of several Technical Specification (TS) sections to add a new specified condition to the Applicability statement. The proposed specified condition will apply to movement of any fuel assembly (irradiated or non-irradiated) over irradiated fuel assemblies in containment or the fuel storage pool.
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has reviewed the LAR and has determined that the information specified in the attached draft Request for Additional Information (RAI) is needed for the staff to complete its evaluation.
In order for the staff to complete its review, we request that you submit your response to the enclosed RAI by September 10, 2010. Based on our conversation earlier today, I understand that SCE would like to have a conference call to discuss this draft RAI. I will contact you with a proposed time for that call.
