SUMMARY
OF MEETING ON JULY 22,2010, TO DISCUSS THE LICENSEE'S PROPOSED RESPONSE TO THE NRC STAFF'S REQUEST DATED JULY 13, 2010, FOR SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION TO COMPLETE THE ACCEPTANCE REVIEW OF THE APPLICATION DATED MAY 11,2010, REGARDING PRNM/ARTS/MELLLA (TAC NO. ME3981)
On July 22, 2010, members of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff met with representatives from Energy Northwest (EN, the licensee), at NRC Headquarters, One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland. The licensee was accompanied by representatives from its contractor, General Electric - Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH). The meeting was a Category 1 public meeting.
The meeting was requested by the licensee to discuss its proposed responses to the NRC staff's request for supplemental information dated July 13, 2010 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML101830271). The supplemental information was requested in order to complete the acceptance review of the licensee's application dated May 11, 2010 (ADAMS Accession No. ML101390369, public version), which requested staff approval of an amendment to Columbia Generating Station to reflect (1) installation of the digital GEH Nuclear Measurement Analysis and Control Power Range Neutron Monitoring (NUMAC PRNM) System and (2) an expanded operating domain resulting from the implementation of Average Power Range Monitor/Rod Block MonitorlTechnical Specifications/Maximum Extended Load Line Limit Analysis (ARTS/MELLLA).
The licensee presented its understanding of the NRC staff's request and its proposed approach to responding to each of the questions.
The NRC staff provided comments for consideration by the licensee in the preparation of its response.
No regulatory decisions were made at the meeting. The meeting agenda was provided with the meeting notice dated July 12, 2010 (ADAMS Accession No. ML101930083). The licensee's presentation slides have been placed in ADAMS (ADAMS Accession No. ML102040225). A list of attendees is enclosed.
