Description:
Immediate actions taken:
Recommendation for action:
Supervisor Verbally Contacted I1 While interviewing Chemistry staff regarding the groundwater monitoring program associated with the condensate leaks from buried pipes during an inspection visit, an NRC inspector recommended that an additional off-site well in the Kirkwood Aquifer (W-4K) be included in the monitoring program. The inspector understands that there is no technical reason to believe that the Kirkwood Aquifer has been contaminated. However, from a public relations point of view, he feels that we should include this Kirkwood monitoring well in our sampling program in order to provide assurance to the public that the on-site groundwater contamination is not migrating to off-site wells.
Discussed with Supervisor and wrote this IR.
Chemistry consider the NRC inspector's recommendation and determine if the additional well should be included in the monitoring program.
