Dear Mr. Gellrich:
By letter dated August 17, 2009 (Agencywide Document Access and Management System Accession 1\\10. ML092360423), Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, LLC submitted information summarizing the results of the 2009 steam generator tube inspections performed at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Unit NO.2.
The NRC staff has reviewed the submitted information and determined that additional information is required in order to complete the evaluation. The staff has prepared the enclosed request for additional information.
Based upon discussions with your staff, we understand that you plan to respond to the enclosure within 45 days from the date of this letter. Please contact me at 301-415-1364 if you have any questions.

Please discuss the results of the steam drum and U-bend region inspections.
- 2.
The licensee reported that 330 fan bar wear indications were identified in 258 tubes.
Please provide the location (e.g., fan bar plus 1 inch), orientation, and measured sizes of each indication.
- 3.
On page 24 and 25 of the August 17, 2009, letter, the licensee reported that the wear depth bounding length is 1.5 inches; please discuss why this is a bounding length for a foreign object.
