REFERENCE:
We are informing the Director of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation of the upcoming transfer of Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Inc. to Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, LLC. Reference (a) stated that the license amendment request for this change has been approved.
The closing of the transfer of the name is expected to occur as early as October 19, 2009. Accordingly, we request, upon our notification to you that the name change is complete, that you issue and make effective the requested license amendment.
Attachment (1) to this letter is a copy of a letter from American Nuclear Insurers (ANI) guaranteeing nuclear liability insurance for Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, LLC upon transfer of the name.

Dear Ira,
This letter confirms that American Nuclear Insurers will write nuclear liability insurance for Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, LLC, and insuring the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant in Calvert County, Maryland. The insurance will coincide with an organizational change whereby Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, LLC will replace Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Inc. as the owner and licensed operator of the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant. The insurance is purchased to satisfy the requirements for financial protection as set forth in Section 170 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, and in 10 CFR Part 140.
Effective on the date of the change in the license, we will amend as follows the insurance policy and certificates for the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, currently issued to Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Inc.
Under Facility Form Policy No. NF-0216, we will change the Named Insured and Operator of the Facility to Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, LLC.
Under Facility Worker Form Certificate No. NW-0595, we will change the Named Insured and Operator of the Facility to Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, LLC.
- Under Secondary Financial Protection Certificate Nos. N-0052 and N-0053, we will change the Named Insured to Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, LLC. We also will add Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, LLC to each certificate's Bond for Payment of Retrospective Premiums.
