Acceptance Review - Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1, 2, and 3
- Emergency Plan Change, TACs MD9642, MD9643, and MD9644 Rusty:
Pursuant to Section 50.54q of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), Arizona Public Service Company (APS), submitted the revised Emergency Plan (EP) Change to implement NEI 99-01, Revision 5, Emergency Action Levels (EALs), for Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (PVGNS), Units 1, 2, 3 for Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approval by letter dated September 15, 2008. The PVNGS request included the following:
- Current Classification Scheme Description : NEI 99-01 Scheme Transition : Scheme Cross References : Deviation and Difference Justifications : Mode Description : Classification Policies : PVNGS EAL Technical Basis The package did not include the currently approved revision of the EP for review or reference.
However by letter dated August 11, 2008, PVNGS submitted revisions 40 and 41 of the EP to the NRC per 10 CFR 50.54(q) and 10 CFR 72.44. Revision 41 of the PVNGS EP (effective August 6, 2008) will be used as the most current revision of the plan.
The NRC staff has reviewed your application has completed its acceptance review of the proposed EP change request submitted by the applicant and concluded that the changes submitted contain the requisite information required by regulation, and that this information is technically sufficient for the NRC staff to commence a detailed technical review. If additional information is needed for the staff to complete its technical review, you will be advised by separate correspondence.
