Dear Sir or Madam,

Generic Letter 2008-01 requires that licensees take certain actions with regard to the subject systems and provide a final response detailing completion of those actions within nine months of the date of the Letter. The Generic Letter also requires that licensees provide an interim notification to NRC within three months of the date of that Letter if it is anticipated that the required actions will not be completed by the 9 month due date.

Ongoing communications between industry representatives and the NRC established the need to allow an extension of the due date for the interim submittal. This letter is provided as confirmation that Mr. Danny Williamson of the River Bend Station staff contacted Mr. Jared Wermiel on this matter on April 8, 2008. Mr. Wermiel agreed to set a new due date for an interim submittal of May 16, 2008. This extension is necessary to allow the station to complete the specification of walk down requirements for portions of the subject systems that are inaccessible during plant operation. River Bend Station has no outage planned prior to the due date for the final response.
